Quote: "For a century, the Mormon church had a rocky and sometimes bloody relationship with American culture at large; persecution by 'gentiles' became key to LDS self-understanding."
Reaction: If you think about it, Mormons have a strong presence in California because of early pioneer migration, which was due in large part to midwest persecution. So if you really want someone to blame for the passing of Prop 8, blame Missouri and Illinois.
