What: Out of respect for Mormons, someone is petitioning Google to change the code name of their new search engine, Google Caffeine.
Quote: "Since the Mormon religion disallows caffeine, please consider changing the name. It's kind of like marketing Google Bacon to Jewish or Muslim folks, or Google Brisket to Hindus."
Reaction: Actually, if Google did produce a new search engine called Google Caffeine, I think a lot of Mormons would get a kick out it. We'd be making jokes about it for years to come.

I agree. It's a great thought, though, and very considerate. However, I just remember all the jokes at BYU when my CS class was taking "Java" every morning at 9. Anyways, I think it's awesome of them to think of us. We'll see what happens.
ReplyDeleteSeems kind of silly.
ReplyDeleteI've read the WoW many times, but I've yet to see the word 'caffeine' in there.
ReplyDeleteYeah Anonymous, I agree! And beer -- where does it say beer in there? or cocaine? or Heroin?! What a sham!!
