The Mormons Really ARE Coming!

What: The Washington Post addresses the new ad campaign launched by gay-rights advocates in states where same-sex marriage has recently become legal or at issue and where NOM (National Organization for Marriage) has begun advertising. The new ad by gay-rights advocates carries the banner "The Mormons are Coming! The Mormons are Coming!" and carries a poem that compares the Mormons to the British in the poem "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere."

Quote: "The ad was rejected by sites in three other states, including Maine, where the Kennebec Journal informed Californians Against Hate that the copy 'borders on insulting and denigrating a whole set of people based on their religion.'"

Reaction: I swear this is a complete coincidence. I did not know about this ad campaign when I started this news blog and gave it the title "The Mormons are Coming!" However, I think it is incredibly ironic that I used that title for this news blog because of its hyperbolic overtones, and then someone actually uses the phrase seriously. Hilarious, right?
