Mormons Can Really Dance

What: Book Notes and Quotes recognizes a pattern in the type of people that consistently rise to the forefront of dance competitions.

Quote: "Mormons have already won 'So You Think You Can Dance' and 'Dancing With the Stars,' and two of the front runners on ABC's … hit 'Dance War,' are, yes, Mormon."

Reaction: I think it was Brigham Young who said, "I want you to sing and dance and forget your troubles. . . . Let's have some music and all of you dance."

  2. Although the dancing is wonderful, I question the costuming and the sexuality in the dance. When Benji dropped his pants, I thought it was disgusting. Does someone have to give up their modesty and goodliness to be a good dancer? With so many LDS members in the spotlight, there should be a new wave toward modesty. My 8 year old granddaughter who is a ballet dancer was appalled at the immodesty exhibited on "So You Think You Can Dance".

  3. I do agree, that the costumes and dancing are becoming less modest and wholesome as it first started out to be. Plus a dancing couple usually never kissed after the end of the dance either. It seemed in the past that there were some strict quidelines to that or was it more professional. It makes you wonder what these young people are doing when not being watched...I do love the show and am in awe of the ability of the great talent these young people have. They are in one huge fishbowl and in a world of commercialism, lack of high standards and Hollywood. One is not going to get a dance troupe from, "Rick's College" there. (Sorry BYU-ID)
